Final Report - AQUAETREAT (Improvement and innovation of aquaculture effluent treatment Technology)

Funded under: FP6-SME

Abstract

Aquaculture is among the industries that have significant environmental effects and are responsible for water pollution. Therefore, the EU-funded AQUAETREAT project aimed to develop new methods and approaches for a more efficient and environmentally friendly use of water in the sector, as well as to disseminate the necessary information to ensure mitigation of the generated pollution.

This final activity report summarises the project objectives and provides an overview of the consortium structure. The undertaken activities are also presented, accompanied by an analysis of the produced results. Furthermore, the developed solutions, which were related to water treatment and recirculation, exploitation of sludge and reduction of the effluents' impacts are described. Finally, the plan for the dissemination of the generated knowledge is highlighted.
