Final Report - ITAES (Integrated Tools to design and implement Agro Environmental Schemes)
Project ID: 502070Funded under: FP6-POLICIES
Agricultural activities used to be in balance with the surrounding environment and wildlife; however the increase and mechanisation of the production reversed this equilibrium. Contemporary agriculture has significant impacts on nature which the European Union tries to mitigate through the implementation of agri-environmental schemes (AESs). The EU-funded ITAES project aimed to develop a framework to analyse the characteristics, design and application of AESs. The framework was then used for the evaluation of AESs and the formulation of recommendations. This final activity report provides an overview of the project objectives and an extensive analysis of the theoretical background for the framework establishment. In addition, the document presents the examined case studies and the derived conclusions. Finally, the developed recommendations are highlighted.
