This is the final report of the MESEMA project, a technology oriented research project, built upon the success of previous EU projects with devotion to accomplish the objectives of the aeronautics priority through designing, producing and testing 'innovative transducer systems based on active materials'. Four fixed and rotary-wing aircraft companies accompanied by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and university research institutes participated in - and could benefit from - the developments of primarily magneto-elastic transducers for high-torque actuation, vibration and noise reduction, electrical energy generation and structural health monitoring.

The report begins with describing the project's objectives and a summary list of the achievements. It presents the project's structure into its work packages and then goes into detail about the objectives, the work performed and the findings under each one. There is, finally, a section assessing the project's success and impacts on the related industry and research sector.
