Abstract

This is the final report of the project ROTIS II, which aimed at developing a robotic system designed to perform inspections of ship's ballast tanks. It can operate on oil tankers, dry- and mixed cargo carriers or FPSO. The purpose of the project was to prepare and test a prototype in real-life conditions.

The report begins with the motivation of the project in relation to ship inspection challenges. It refers to the project's objectives and the partners involved. There is then a brief description of the ROTIS II system, its principal capabilities, its main parts and a deployment procedure that underlines its efficiency, credibility and simplicity of use.
