Abstract

The growing demand in food, personal care, agriculture, and pharmaceutical industries for new encapsulation techniques with defined release mechanisms of active ingredients is addressed in this proposal. Encapsulation can be obtained by nano- and micron-sized capsules with well-defined barrier properties where the release of the encapsulants could be controlled by the permeability of the diffusion barrier or by multiple barriers.

The research strategy of the project is summarised by '... structure design (structure engineering) of the interior and the surface structures of the capsules' with the aim to deliver capsule for flavour-release by manipulate the interior by interface or vice versa. The final report lists their major achievement, including establishing a robust and versatile microfluidics environment to study container morphology and dynamic.
