Final Report - MEMORIES (Development, characterisation and validation of new and original models for Alzheimer's Disease)Funded under: FP6-IST
Alzheimer's disease (ad) is characterised by a progressive loss of cognition and memory function, and is defined pathologically by the deposition of amyloid peptide and neuro-fibrillary tangles and by a marked cortical cholinergic depletion in the sporadic form of ad, multiple mechanisms can lead the formation of tangles and plaques. The final report of the project highlights that the project confirmed the validity of the approach used by the different partners to dissect mechanisms underlying the onset of neurodegeneration linked to LOAD and provided new information on different models and different mechanisms highly relevant for human sporadic AD.
