Final Report - NICE (New Integrated Combustion System for future Passenger Car Engines)

Project ID: 506201
Funded under: FP6-SUSTDEV

Abstract

This is the final report of the NICE project. The project's overall objective consisted in the development of different integrated combustion systems (now in plural), for different types of fuel (gasoline, diesel, compressed natural gas, synthetic biomass-based fuels), which are able to achieve the excellent fuel conversion efficiency of a cutting-edge DI diesel engine while complying with very low future emission levels (in the mean time, EU6).

The report begins with explaining the project's objectives, as they were defined after a modification to the initial goals. The main conclusions are summarised and then there is a detailed presentation and analysis of the sub-projects. The technologies tested for different engine types and setups are presented and also their results. Finally, there is a section concerning the exploitable results and knowledge dissemination actions and plans.
