Final Report - EUROIRON1 (Genetic control of the pathogenesis of diseases based on iron accumulation)
Project ID: 37296Funded under: FP6-LIFESCIHEALTH
This is the final report for the EUROIRON1 project which studied the genetic control of the pathogenesis of diseases based on iron accumulation. The report outlines the scientific and technological objectives of the project. It then continues with a list of partners and a detailed summary of work performed, achievements and end results. The main section discusses genetic control of cellular iron uptake and iron egress, as well as iron regulation, validation studies, animal models, cellular models and novel technologies. It also outlines systematic approach to identify new genes controlling body iron stores. The report concludes with publishable results for using and disseminating gathered knowledge and outlines the number of publications that emerged from the project.
