This is the final report of the SINER-GI project, whose aim was to raise awareness among practitioners, policymakers and academics on the effects of geographical indications (GIs) for agricultural products in order to support their legitimacy in the framework of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) negotiations.
The document begins with a introductory chapter describing the project's scientific objectives and the steps followed to reach them, as well as the main results. It goes on to list the critical points that need to be considered and some recommendations for the European Union. Brief remarks on the essential elements for the preparation of research programmes and the future of the SINER-GI network.
