Final Report - SIMAOROCHAXCI (Chromatin dynamics during X-inactivation: Assessing the role of different chromatin changes in the loss of gene activity and the gain of gene silencing)

Project ID: 237675
Funded under: FP7-PEOPLE

Abstract

This document is an attachment to the final activity report of the SIMAOROCHAXCI project, which was funded under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and aimed to:
1. determine how euchromatic marks were lost shortly after the ribonucleic acid (RNA) of the X chromosome (Xi) coating;
2. identify the importance of this loss in gene silencing and heterochromatin formation.
Moreover, a new protein player, Jarid2, associated to the Xi at the onset of X-inactivation (XCI) was defined.

The attachment includes comparative figures and diagrams that highlight the project most significant results. The importance of the findings is also pinpointed using a series of pictures and accompanying explanatory legends.
