Final Report - MITOCHECK (Regulation of mitosis by phosphorylation - A combined functional genomics, proteomics and chemical biology approach)

Project ID: 503464
Funded under: FP6-LIFESCIHEALTH

Abstract

This is the final report for the MITOCHECK, one of whose goals was to identify all human proteins that are required for mitosis. The report cover all the actions undertaken by the project, and lists their achievements. In particular, this work has led to the characterisation of about 100 protein complexes, many of which had previously not been characterised or only incompletely been characterised.

In combination with secondary ribonucleic acid (RNA) interference assays, this work has led to important new molecular insights into centrosome function, spindle assembly and chromosome segregation. The approaches developed by MITOCHECK will be generally applicable to high-throughput follow-up of phenotypic screens in mammalian cells.
