Final Report - INTEGRATING-ACC (Integrating the Associated Candidate Countries into the 6th Framework Programme through networking activities and improved NCP services)

Project ID: 510433
Funded under: FP6-SUSTDEV

Abstract

Funded by the European Commission (EC) under the Sixth Framework Program (FP6), the INTEGRATING-ACC project brought together National Contact Points (NCPs) from 22 countries to establish best work practices to lead to a better integration of the Associate Candidate Countries (ACCs) scientific community into the European Research Area (ERA) using the instruments available in FP6. The activities focused on the Thematic Priority 6: 'Sustainable development, global change and ecosystems' (SustDev) and included:
- active promotion of the research capacity in the ACC, e.g. by inviting the ACC NCPs to the information days in the Member States.
- analysis and reinforcement of the networking approach. The existing research networks in Europe were identified and their activities and practices analysed. The NCP networking activities were reinforced both internally and externally with other networks.
- overcome the barriers to participation in the FP6. This was done by improving the NCP services. NCPs across Europe were analysed and best practice guidelines were established and tested.

The specific document provides a summary of the overall project objectives and a thorough overview of the work performed and the major achievements. The INTEGRATING-ACC project had accomplished its objectives and had contributed to the integration of the New Member States and ACCs into the FP6. It had also prepared the ground for their further integration into the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
