Final Report - CENSOR (Climate variability and El Niño southern oscillation: Implications for natural coastal resources and management)

Project ID: 511071
Funded under: FP6-INCO

This is the final activity report of the EU-funded CENSOR project which aimed at analysing the effects of the El Nino southern oscillation (ENSO) on near-shore coastal environments and the related socioeconomic aspects along the Pacific South America. Therefore, the project formulated recommendations regarding natural coastal resources and their options for sustainable management.

The document firstly provides an overview of the ENSO along the western America and then refers to the multiple anthropogenic demands that are imposed on these ecosystems. Moreover, it analyses the implemented research approach, presents the developed proposals and highlights the derived conclusions. Finally, the innovations of the project are pinpointed, along with their potential impact on current management practices.
