Final Report - NEUROGLIA (Molecular and cellular investigation of neuron-astroglia interactions: Understanding brain function and dysfunction)

Project ID: 202167
Funded under: FP7-HEALTH

The NEUROGLIA project, which received funding under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) aimed to understand better the role of astroglia, in both the normal brain and the diseased brain. The NEUROGLIA consortium is convinced that the interaction of neurons with glial cells is crucial for the development of epilepsy and that disturbed neuron-glia interaction is causative for epileptogenesis. In order to fully understand neuron-glia interactions in the normal and epileptic brain, we investigate brain function in animal models and in tissue obtained from epilepsy patients.

Both reports documents are final reports covering initially a brief overview of the main objectives of the project and introducing after its wider context and its specific objectives. A detailed description of the project results is also provided. The report closes with the potential impact.
