Project ID: 218057
Funded under: FP7-SECURITY

This is the final report for the NMFRDISASTER project which received funding under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The objective of the project was to identify the needs of the first responders in five key areas, and to match those needs with existing knowledge, technology and products. The end product of the project would be a roadmap, suggested to the EC enterprise general directorate, pointing out areas where future research and developments activities would be required.

The report begins with introducing the context of the project and its rationale. Five areas of interest were identified for investigation, namely:
1. training methodology and technology;
2. the human impact of disasters;
3. law and ethics;
4. personal protective equipment;
5. use of blood and blood components in disasters.

For each subject one workshop was organised. The report goes on with the partners involved and the methodology adopted. It also covers administrative procedures and finally, it provides a section with conclusions and recommendations.
