Final Report - PREMALSTRUCT (Structural analysis of the CSA binding interactions involved during pregnancy associated malaria)
Project ID: 201222Funded under: FP7-HEALTH
This is the final publishable summary report for the PREMALSTRUCT project which received funding under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The main aim was to provide a molecular basis for understanding the specificity of placental P. falciparum isolates for chondroitin-sulfate (CSA) binding, which leads to Pregnancy-associated malaria (PAM) via sequestration of infected red blood cells (iRBC) in the placenta. The report begins with an executive summary mainly highlighting the project context and main achievements and then covers a summary description of the project context and objectives, as well as a list of beneficiaries. The report then presents the objectives and the main scientific and technological results of the five work packages. It closes with a brief overview of the potential impact and the main dissemination activities and exploitation of results.
