Final Report - URBANQUAKE (Istanbul Urban Earthquake Test Site)

Abstract

This is the final report of the URBANQUAKE project, funded under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The main objective of URBANQUAKE project is to install and monitor seismic array networks in the region of Istanbul where the probability of having a major earthquake in the next thirty years is very high. The collected using these arrays are highly valuable for the scientific community around the world since they constitute one of the most reliable source of information to develop, verify and modify the existing analysis and design procedures in earthquake engineering.

The report provides an executive summary of the work undertaken during the period of project followed by a brief description of the project context and objectives. Furthermore, main scientific achievements are described along with the dissemination activities that have been done so far to promote foregrounds of the project. Potential impact, plans for further development and exploitation of the Istanbul's urban earthquake test site are also discussed.
