Final Report - FISHPOPTRACE (Fish population structure and traceability)

Project ID: 212399
Funded under: FP7-KBBE

Abstract

Marine fish species are fragmented to varying degrees into a series of locally interbreeding populations. Thus the need to conserve overexploited stocks becomes of importance, mainly when considering illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.

The European Union (EU) funded FISHPOPTRACE project aimed to promote sustainability through the proposal of strategies to relate fish population diversity to variable harvesting regimes.

This final activity report firstly outlines the project background and then presents its specific objectives. It also unfolds the implemented methodology and analyses the activities that were undertaken and the results that were obtained by the consortium members. The document also refers to the potential impact of the FISHPOPTRACE findings, and closes with a brief overview of different dissemination activities.
