Final Report - OTC SOCIOMED (Assessing the over-the-counter medications in primary care and translating the theory of planned behaviour into interventions)

Project ID: 223654
Funded under: FP7-HEALTH

Abstract

The inappropriate provision and consumption of non-prescribed medicines consists a public health problem of outmost importance, particularly in the Mediterranean countries, with enormous health risks.

Thus, the OTC-SOCIOMED project, which was funded by the European Commission (EC), aimed to identify and understand, through a theory-specific approach, the behaviour of different primary care groups towards the provision and consumption of prescribed and non-prescribed medicines in selected European countries.

This final activity report outlines the project context and analyses the activities that were undertaken and the results that were obtained. It also refers to the main conclusions that were derived and summarises the potential impact of the project findings. Finally, it closes with an overview of the implemented dissemination plan.
