Final Report - ZEOCELL (Nanostructured electrolyte membranes based on polymer-ionic liquids-zeolite composites for high temperature pem fuel cell)

Abstract

This is the final report for the ZEOCELL project. Funded under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), ZEOCELL put forward an innovative concept to overcome the current limitations of commercial available Proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC)s based on the use of multifunctional nanostructured materials, capable to withstand temperatures in the range of 130 - 200 degrees of Celsius. The report includes an executive summary mainly referring to the project outcomes. It goes on introducing the context of the project. Seven electrolyte membrane compositions comprising either poly-benzimidazole (PBI), protic ionic liquids or zeolites / zeotypesare as materials are described and the related outcomes are also stated. The report closes with a summary description of the results' potential impact, as well as the exploitation activities.
