This is the final report for the BESECU project which received funding under the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). BESECU was an investigation of cross-cultural and ethnic differences of human behaviour in crisis situations in order to better tailor security related communication, instructions and procedures. The report includes an executive summary with a brief mention to the project context, aim, followed methods, achieved results and a concluding note. The project performed a social scientific study across a wide range of target groups and types of crisis situations, and a study on the human behaviour in evacuation of buildings. The main objectives are summarised. Two standardised instruments BeSeCu- FR (for fire fighters) and BeSeCu-S (for survivors) were developed in cooperation with eight European countries. The report also elaborates on the project results and closes with the results' potential impact and the main dissemination activities and exploitation of results.
