Final Report - WELTEMP (Water Electrolysis at Elevated Temperatures)

Project ID: 212903
Funded under: FP7-ENERGY

This is the final report for the WELTEMP project which received funding under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). WELTEMP's main aim was to develop a more efficient water electrolyser technology for the good of the environment and the climate changes. The strategic development of the project was an elevated operating temperature of the Polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) electrolyser. In this way the energy efficiency should be significantly improved because of enhanced electrode kinetics, the decreased thermodynamic energy requirement, and the possible integration of the heat recovery. The activities were organised in five work packages.

The report includes an executive summary mainly focusing on the project aim and main outcomes and goes on presenting the project context, the work package structure and then outlines the specific objectives. The work performed and the results of each work package are also presented. Finally, the report covers a summary description of the results' potential impact referring also to the dissemination activities.
