Periodic Report - SMETHANE (Technological platform to develop nutritional additives to reduce methane emissions from ruminants)

Project ID: 262270
Funded under: FP7-SME

Methane (CH4) is the second most important greenhouse gas (GHG), accounting for a significant proportion of the global greenhouse effect. Livestock farming is a principal source of GHG, and in Europe most livestock-related CH4 emissions arise from fermentation in the digestive tract of herbivorous animals.

Therefore, the SMETHANE project, which was funded by the European Community (EC), aimed to provide a technological platform for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop and progress knowledge on the successful use of nutritional additives to reduce CH4 emissions from ruminants.

This informative flyer firstly presents the project logo and participants and then highlights the SMETHANE background. It also briefly refers to the consortium's target and includes the coordinator's contact information.
