Final Report - OPTIJECT (A novel NIR-based instrument for in-line monitoring during injection moulding)

Project ID: 262623
Funded under: FP7-SME

During plastics' production proper control of the process as well as material parameters, such as temperature, moisture, colour and speed of injection, is required to obtain good parts repeatedly. However, most adjustments are based on quality control carried out after injecting the parts, leading to significant economic losses due to the resulting scrap.

Therefore, the OPTIJECT project, which was funded under the European Commission's (EC) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), aimed to develop an online system for monitoring the injection moulding process with the view of improving the final product quality.

This project factsheet presents the consortium partners and briefly summarises the overall scope of OPTIJECT, as well as the proposed methodology. It also refers to the project's website.
