This is the final report for the DOPAMINET project which received funding under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). DOPAMINET aimed to construct complex networks consisting of transcription factors, non-coding ribonucleic acid (RNAs) and cis-regulatory elements to identify differences and commonalities amongst subtypes of dopaminergic neurons in three animal models. This was achieved through the description of gene expression profiles from transgenic mouse and zebrafish, the screening of chordate cis-regulatory elements in zebrafish and ciona, gene network reconstruction and validation of candidate molecules in gene network perturbation experiments. The report describes the project objectives and the activities set out in order to fulfil them. It also elaborates on the research findings and closes with an overview of the results' impact.
