Final Report - HITEA (Health effects of indoor pollutants: Integrating microbial, toxicological and epidemiological approaches)

Project ID: 211488
Funded under: FP7-ENVIRONMENT

This is the final publishable report for the HITEA project which received funding under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The general aim of HITEA was to clarify the health impacts of indoor exposures on children and adults by providing comprehensive exposure data on biological and chemical factors in European indoor environments, and by combining this information with extensive health data obtained from a field study and from existing population cohorts. Focus is laid on microbial exposures due to dampness problems of buildings. The report starts with a summary providing a general overview of the project and goes on further introducing its context and outlining its specific objectives. A study has been developed a study which provides European-wide knowledge on the health effects of biological indoor exposures at reasonable costs. HITEA consists of two closely linked parts - indoor air in schools, indoor air at home. In the last part, the report discusses on the impact of the results and the main dissemination activities and exploitation of results.

There is also an accompanying document to the project final report including a schematic illustrating the overall structure and the interdependencies of the components of the HITEA study, a timeline with the phases of the field study in schools and progress of the work, a schematic illustrating the children cohorts and a schematic illustrating the project impact. The report includes also a table listing the consortium and contact details.
