Final Report - SVETLANA (Safety (and maintenance) improvement through automated flight data analysis)
Project ID: 265940Funded under: FP7-TRANSPORT
This is the final report of the SVETLANA project which received funding under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). This report provides a summary of the SVETLANA project, an European Commission (EC) - Russia cooperation project in the field of aviation safety and maintenance improvement. The project was aimed at improving the capabilities of flight data monitoring programmes for civil aviation by using the EC-Russian synergy. The report details how the project developed a new analysis cycle process based on a two steps approach: first an automated detection process based on datamining techniques and then a human expertise feedback loop to assess smart maintenance and flight safety improvement. The report then moves on to outline how the project developed a common basis for the processing of all available flight data and anomaly detection in real-time. Several data-mining algorithms (two patents applied) were developed, based on the most recent research outcome in the field of anomaly detection, they are fully data-driven and not base on threshold exceedence anymore.
