Final Report - HYCON (Hygienic and Energy Optimized Conveyor Belt for the Slaughtering Industry)

Project ID: 232501
Funded under: FP7-SME

Abstract

This is the final report of the HYCON project which was funded under the European Commission (EC)'s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). Its aim has been to develop a system to be used by companies that want to move products using conveyor systems in a hygienic and energy friendly way resulting in improved food safety and the following society benefits of better public welfare as well as lower energy consumption and less need of water and cleaning detergents. The report notes that all requirements have been met and thus overall all expected results achieved. One function model for each of the two conveyor belt types were made, including all the innovations. They were tested and the test results from both models have been very satisfactory. The report highlights that the major innovation and point of market differentiation of the HYECON product regarding easy installable components and considerably better hygiene, lower downtime needed for cleaning in combination with reductions in use of energy, water and detergents, is achieved in a combination not seen in current SOA conveying technology or products.
