Design for Living: the European City of Tomorrow

Funded under: FP5-EESD

Abstract

Nowhere is the implementation of sustainable development more urgently needed than in our cities. It is in cities, where nearly 80% of the Union’s citizens live, that the accumulated problems of the past are most acutely felt, in the form of social exclusion, loss of cultural identity, poverty, unemployment and crime, traffic congestion, noise and stress, pollution and waste.

The Key Action ‘City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage’.aims to make available, right across Europe, the means to solve the most pressing shared problems of urban management.
