Final Report - WE-STAY (Work Toghether to Stop Truancy Among Youth)

Project ID: 241542
Funded under: FP7-HEALTH

Abstract

This is the final report of the BECAN project which was funded under the Seventh Framework Package (FP7). The project aimed at mapping child abuse and neglect (CAN) in the general population of 11 to 16-year-old children that attend and those that have dropped-out school and at identifying the number of reported/detected cases of CAN being recorded in at least 8 Balkan countries. The report notes that the project resulted in a series of recommendations and policy briefs at national and Balkan level. As part of its achievements it also formed national network of professionals and organisations regularly dealing with CAN related issues. Additionally in each participant country a National Advisory Board and a Central International Advisory Board for ethical issues were set up augmenting and supervising the entire research, issuing as well a series of recommendation for standard ethical dilemmas and challenges in CAN research to be considered and used in other such initiatives globally.
