Periodic Report - SYNTOPTOMATER (Design and Synthesis of Novel Polymeric Materials by ROMP)

Project ID: 230795
Funded under: FP7-PEOPLE

This is the periodic report of the SYNTOPTOMATER project, which is funded under the European Commission (EC) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). This project aimed to prepare polymer and diblock copolymers that contain a regular non-polar backbone (poly (VCP)) with arylen fragments and linear side-chain (aliphatic hydrocarbons with or without heteroatoms and siloxanes). Monomers were divided into two groups then polymerised in the ruthenium complexes and the results were then studied.
%The project improved the synthesis method of norbornene derivatives, enabling several new, very reactive compounds to be produced. In addition, monomers (exo-isomer) were produced with high yields, and were fully characterised. Also, thanks to the photophysical and thermal studies, the project discovered an effective and convenient polymerisation system which works well without interference.
