Periodic Report - POLALAS (Novel photonic nanostructures for polariton lasers)

Project ID: 230811
Funded under: FP7-PEOPLE

This is the final report of the POLALAS project, which is funded under the European Commission (EC) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The project researched exciton-polariton phenomena in structures designed to exhibit novel or enhanced device functionality, including through the use of two or three-dimension confinement. It focused on the next generation of devices beyond current polariton-based lasers and light-emitting diodes by making use of the fundamental properties of exciton-polaritons.

The development of compact, low-cost, low-energy all-optical integrated circuits and related devices would give a significant boost to technological progress across this sector. The researchers hope that the results and outcomes from the project will be of interest to a wide academic and industrial audience while, at the same time, playing an important part in keeping Europe ahead in this field.
