Innovation Policy Studies - Technology Transfer

Large public research institutes (LPRIs) vary widely in respect of the resources and effort they devote to technology transfer. Depending on their specific circumstances, and the balance struck in their missions between the needs of government authorities, national industries and other stakeholders, their activities may be primarily in the area of basic or strategic research, or alternatively may focus on contract research and the development of applications.

This study was carried out by a consortium led by the firm Arthur D Little, under contract to the Innovation Directorate of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise. It formed the basis of the European Commission's publication "Getting more innovation from public research", which was published as Innovation Papers no. 4 (EUR 17026); ISBN: 92-828-9580-7; EUR-OP Catalogue no: NB-NA-17-026-EN-C
