  • Public consultation on a draft Commission Recommendation on relevant product and service markets within the electronic communications sector susceptible to ex ante regulation in accordance with Directive 2002/21/EEC

Abstract

Full title: Public consultation on a draft Commission Recommendation on relevant product and service markets within the electronic communications sector susceptible to ex ante regulation in accordance with Directive 2002/21/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council on a common regulatory framework for electronic communication networks and services

The consultation centres on a Recommendation being made as part of the new regulatory framework for electronic communications in Europe that will be applied by Member States from July 2003. The new framework should help customers get the best deal as well as ensuring greater legal certainty for market players and rolling back regulation where it is no longer required. The draft Recommendation, issued on 18 June, identifies and defines the relevant products and service markets that national regulators would be obliged to examine under the new regulatory framework, in order to assess their competitiveness.

Comments may be submitted electronically to infso-A1@ec.europa.eu (please put "Recommendation" in the subject line) up to and including 19 July 2002. Contributions will be published, unless there is a request to the contrary. The Commission Services will hold a public hearing in Brussels on the draft Recommendation on 3rd July 2002.
