The plugging regime with no outstreaming neutral flux is studied for a closed configuration pump limiter (throat). Also derived are the plugging length and the neutral density build-up at the neutralizer plate. The analytical expressions are supported by numerical evidence. An improved efficiency related to the throat effect mainly due to neutral sidewall interactions is found.
