Air pollution research report 10 : Evaluation of atmospheric processes leading to acid deposition in Europe 1987
The objective of the COST 611 task force was to report on the distribution of acid deposition in Europe, its distribution in time and space as well as the chemical and physical processes that determine it. The problem is outlined in terms of emissions of sulphur and nitrogen compounds, volatile compounds, anthropogenic and natural emissions, atmospheric transformations, transport and acid deposition. Measurements of acid substances in air and precipitation are reviewed, including measurement methods and analytical techniques such as aircraft measurement of acid substances and precursors. The final part of this report presents numerical models for the calculation of the formation, long-range transport and deposition of acidifying pollutants.
