Intercomparison of three coordinate measuring machine measurements Part II : Gear standards
The results of comparison measurements on two gear standards (one involute standard and one lead standard) carried out with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) of different types and manufacturers are presented. The investigations of the gear standards were intended to determine the influences of geometric deviations of the CMM with the aim of demonstrating experimentally the task specific measurement uncertainty attainable when measuring spur gears. The results presented here are to be considered a first inventory; they do not represent the optimum of the uncertainties of measurement which can be attained with CMM as these can now be considerably reduced using, for example, computer-aided error correction methods.
