An analytical investigation is made of the confinement and subsequent burn-up of the fusion produced tritons in a deuterium tokamak plasma. Explicit approximations are obtained for the triton confinement factor, clearly displaying the scaling with physical parameters. The importance of pitch angle scattering losses during the triton slowing down is also estimated. A comparison with experiments and numerical calculations on the FT tokamak shows good quantitative agreement.
