Development of internal measures for energy-saving in the blast furnace and extension of its working life through control of gas flow in areas where the furnace charge is solid, melting and flowing Part 3
The factors which influence the blast furnace process can be summarised as: - the properties of the charge materials - the conditions in the burden - the conditions at the tuyeres - the processes in the furnace The current investigation relates these factors to features of the cohesive zone and gas profiles, temperature and flow, to determine their contribution to the efficiency and operational output of the blast furnace. The injection of pulverised coal as an auxiliary fuel to save coke produces high velocity gas-flows and higher mechanical loads on the coke and the cohesive zone. This will require consideration in future investigations.
