Corrosion and scaling in geothermal systems
This publication is a collection of papers presented at a contractors' meeting on corrosion and scaling problems. A major part deals with problems in the low enthalpy installations in the Paris basin. Although a small percentage of these ventures encounter problems with sulphide formation it is important for the whole industry to understand and eliminate this phenomenon. Studies on silicate scaling and carbonate formation in Icelandic and Greek wells are presented and several papers describe the corrosion on various steels in different geothermal environments.
