Community Research and Development Information Service - CORDIS

The anticipated evolution of JRC activities until the year 2000 is described from the point of departure represented by the contents of the four-year programme 1988-1991. New modes of operation and intervention of the JRC are briefly described underlining the adherence to the customer-contractor principle and the subsequent opening towards services provided to third parties. Radical changes to the component programmes derive from a gradual transfer of resources from nuclear to non-nuclear domains, whilst these changes stay compatible with the vocation of public service of the JRC based on safety, environmental protection and norms and standards aiding the realisation of the single market without frontiers.
