Surface interactions of actinides in the presence of colloidal phases
Am(III), Th(IV) and Np(V) uptake onto amorphous silica and gamma-alumina was studied in 0.1M NaC1O(4) solutions as a function of pH. The adsorption curves were found to shift towards acidic pH with increasing ionic charge of adsorbing cations. The addition of humic acids increased actinides uptake at low pH and lowered adsorption in the neutral to alkaline pH range.
