Formation, growth and stability of colloidal silica and alumina
The formation and growth of colloidal particles of silica and alumina were examined by light scattering and size exclusion chromatography. For silica, condensation of primary particles was found to be a two-step process represented by a first-order kinetic equation. Polymerization of A1(III) ions was largely influenced by temperature and concentration of sulphate ions.
