Abstract

TRIM is a simple model used for evaluation of the consequences of an accident occuring during the transportation of hazardous waste. The intent of TRIM is to support the development of broad policies for the management of transportation risks, based on accident experience. The number of fatalities in the population, caused by toxic releases , explosions and fires, is considered. In the present version of TRIM, Denmark is used as a test case. Application to other countries or regions requires only the corresponding specific data: map of the country, road/rail/water network and the accident frequencies of each network arc. The system of implementation is described and the use of export systems discussed.
