Abstract

This report presents the results of ion temperature measurements in the Lausanne tokamak TCA obtained by scattering of 0.5 MW, 1.0 E-6 sec FIR pulses from an optically-pumped D(2)O laser, using a 12-channel Schottky-diode heterodyne receiver system of 8000 K DSB noise temperature. At plasma densities above 5x1.0_E-13/cm(3) the ion temperature could be obtained from a single laser shot. Results for different plasma conditions are presented and the influence of the magnetic field and the impurity content is discussed.
