Abstract

A study of the trace metal content of Greek lignites and power plant ashes was undertaken to assess the mobilization of trace metals in Greece by the operation of power plants. Power plants sited in Ptolemais, Kardia and Megalopolis were examined. Instrumental neutron activation analysis was used to determine the content of about 30 elements. The uranium content of southern Greek lignites was found to be exceptionally high.
