The aim of the study was to ascertain the influence exerted by industrial granulation parameters on slag properties. The first part of the study was an evaluation of the experimental methods; the aim was to determine the level of significance of measurement recorded for the purpose of interpreting them. The second part related to slags of different origins, associated with special production circumstances and displaying varied characteristics. The third part of the study focussed on the granulation process and involved taking two sets of samples of granulated slag during a given casting. A number of parameters characterising the molten slag or granulation conditions were observed at specific times. The last part of the study compared the hydraulicity of granulated and pelletized slag, the larger fractions of which being more or less vitrified. The study made it possible to estimate the hydraulic value of such fractions in comparison with the most vitreous elements. It was also possible, by baking mortar specimens at a temperature of 80 C, to establish a relationship with the strength at 28 days of specimens stored in normal conditions.
