Abstract

The ERATO 2-D ideal MHD stability code has been extended to handle equilibria that lack symmetry across the equatorial plane of the torus. This involved a change from real symmetric to complex hermitian matrices. The eigenvalue solver has been rewritten to take full advantage of the sparsity of the matrices and of the architecture of vector computers. The storage scheme now allows a greater flexibility with respect to the amount of memory available.
