Abstract

Technological leadership is a vital factor in the corporate struggle for competitiveness in world markets. Product, service and process innovation are part of the everyday life of corporate managers and policymakers. Their successful introduction depends on the mobilization of special skills and hence on specialist training. The advent of the single internal market is a fitting occasion for the discussion and definition of innovation management training requirements at a European level. The purpose of the symposium was to compare and contrast the forms of innovation management training that currently exist in the Member States of the European Economic Community, with a view to improving the definition of their content, to promote transnational exchanges in this field and to raise the level of awareness of the various target audiences. The plenary sessions concentrated on studies already made and experience already acquired in the field of innovation management training in certain Member States, while the workshops focussed on training programme content, methods and target audiences, and on the specialists involved in the successive stages of development and innovation, from the original idea to the market place.
