Abstract

The Coke-End Temperature Control (CETCO) heating system has been developed to adjust the heat input to a coke oven battery automatically, rather than by the decision of the shift operator. CETCO is based on the measurements of the coke-end-temperature and the regenerator temperature. The objective is to produce coke at a target coke-end-temperature, chosen for optimisation of the coke quality, heat consumption and pushing problems. The research programme is divided into the following subphases : - Developing a mathematical model of a coke battery; - A statistical evaluation of actual process data; - Developing the concept of a heat-input control model; - Implementation of the model in practice.
